About The Event
Heather Surprenant ('14J) and Emma Mulvaney-Stanak ('02) met on the campaign trail in June and quickly realized the power of helping a fellow Smithie break into the political realm.
Heather and Emma are facing contested Democratic primaries and have about one month left before the August 11th election. Emma is a former elected leader from the Burlington, Vermont City Council and Heather is a first time candidate. Both are running on platforms that center economic justice and fighting for justice for marginalized communities. They both are the more progressive voice in their races compared to their opponents. To read more on their platforms visit their websites (Emma and Heather).
We would love to send both of these women to the Vermont legislature. Please join us on July 8th with a community of Smithies to hear from the candidates and rally resources to support their campaigns. Heather and Emma plan to split any resources raised between their campaigns and if they raise more than is needed, they plan to pay it forward to other Smithies running for elected office.
If you cannot join us, please consider a donation any amount. Vermont campaign finance laws require each candidate to collect funds on their own, so please consider splitting your donation evenly between the two candidates -- Emma’s donation page and Heather’s donation page.
